Spears: “Princess Diana got killed by one of these people. They’re crossing the line.”
Pop princess Britney Spears declared during an interview yesterday that she is frustrated and angry over the paparazzi, because she can’t leave the house to take a walk with her four-month baby without being stalked by them.
Spears, 24, who was heavily criticized last week after she was photographed driving with her son Sean Preston on her lap, also declared that not even the police can protect her from the paparazzi.
“I don’t really go out with him,” Spears told a US magazine. “And it’s kind of sad because I can’t walk down the street with a stroller (pram). I’m not expecting people to pity me. I’m just telling the truth.”
“I’ve pulled over and asked the cops, ‘Could you please help me? They’ve been driving recklessly back there.’ And they say, ‘Sorry ma’am, I can’t help you. This is how it is.’”
“I mean, Princess Diana got killed by one of these people. They’re crossing the line.”
Last week, in an interview broadcast by the TV show, “Access Hollywood” Britney said: “I made a mistake and so it is what it is, I guess. Being put in the situation that I was in, it was kind of bad with the paparazzi.”

Hip-hop MC and producer Jay Dee (also known as J Dilla), a founding member of the Detroit rap outfit Slum Village, died Friday morning of kidney failure at his home in Los Angeles, officials at his record label said Friday evening.
Born James Yancey, he was a nationally influential producer and a champion of Detroit’s urban music scene. When hip-hop was largely being dominated by the East and West coasts, he put a distinct Detroit sound on many national acts.
He celebrated his 32nd birthday Tuesday with a new album release, “Donuts.”
“Jay Dee was the man with the beats,” said Mark Hicks, who has been on the Detroit hip-hop scene since the early 1990s and is a former manager of the group D12. Hicks got the word that Jay Dee died from Detroit rapper Proof, who sent him a message via his Blackberry.
“I remember when he was selling beats back in ’95, ’96 for like 100 or 200 bucks,” Hicks said. Beats are the instrumental tracks that form the backbone of hip-hop music. (more…)

Backstage after Wednesday’s Grammys, Kanye West was all hug and kisses, smiles and high-fives.
It’s expected behavior for that scene, but not from the man who just lost Album of the Year after loudly declaring, “If I don’t win Album of the Year, I’m gonna really have a problem with that”.
So what happened?
Well, his show-stealing performance, for one.
“I would have been more disappointed if I didn’t have a good performance and I had won Album of the Year,” West said. “The performance, that’s what it’s about, the entertainment and people having a good time. I just want to see the black colleges right now. I just want to go onto MySpace right now and see what people are saying.” (more…)

ROCK star Pete Doherty escaped a jail term on Wednesday despite pleading guilty to possession of crack cocaine and heroin.
The troubled Babyshambles frontman was instead issued with a 12-month drug rehabilitation community order at Ealing Magistrates’ Court and told he must have drug tests every month.
But if he breaks the conditions of the order he could still find himself in jail.
Doherty, 26, had previously pleaded guilty to six counts of possessing Class A drugs, including morphine, as well as posession of cannabis.
Defence counsel Sean Curran said Doherty had an “entrenched drug addiction”.
“The easy option would be a custodial sentence but that would leave him vulnerable and open to drug use,” he told the court.
Doherty, standing in the dock wearing a dark jacket and cream-coloured shirt, was back in court for sentencing following his arrest in Ealing, on November 30, last year, and his subsequent arrests in east London for drugs possession on December 4, 2005, and January 26, 2006. (more…)

Don P of Atlanta-based rap trio Trillville was arrested last week in DeKalb County, Georgia, for the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl. According to a DeKalb County Police spokesperson, the rapper (real name: Donnell Prince) was charged with rape and two counts of aggravated sodomy, all of which are felonies.
According to police, the attack happened on December 16 in an apartment in Lithonia, Georgia, which is near Atlanta. Prince was one of 10 guests attending a small gathering at the apartment.
“Allegedly, [the victim] was raped in a bedroom by two partygoers, Mr. Prince being one of them,” said Cory Hughes, Dekalb County’s public information officer. “We are still trying to identify the other individual who was involved. [The victim] said this was not a consensual act.”
Moments after the assault, the girl left the gathering with a friend and reported the rape to police. By the time officers arrived on the scene, most of the guests had left. Police said the investigation is ongoing.

Police detectives want to question Busta Rhymes about the fatal shooting that took place outside a warehouse where the rapper was filming a video early Sunday morning. A member of Rhymes’ security staff, Israel Ramirez, 29, was shot once in the chest by an unidentified assailant outside a warehouse in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, New York, and was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
According to an Associated Press report, Rhymes was among several possible witnesses who left the scene of the murder before police arrived, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly told reporters Monday (February 6).
“We believe Busta Rhymes may have been on the street when the shooting took place,” Kelly said. Rhymes declined comment through a spokesperson.
Rhymes, Missy Elliott and G-Unit’s Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo were preparing to begin filming inside the building when violence occurred outside the building at around 1:30 a.m., according to the AP. Police believe an argument that began inside the warehouse “moved to the street,” Kelly said. “There was some pushing and shoving going on when an individual took out a gun and fired at least eight shots.” Ramirez, the father of three, was the only person hit, according to police.
